It started as a Java desktop application for purchasing, sales, inventory, transport and the workshop; it has since been extended with marketing, a financial integration and a fully integrated website. We’re looking for someone enterprising, who enjoys talking with business owners and can win new projects independently. Not a hard seller, but someone who listens to what a client really needs and knows how to find the right solution for it.

In this role you are the commercial face of Wercstat. You make contact with trade and production companies in our region, lead the first conversation about their ERP challenges, and guide the process until the collaboration is up and running. After that you remain the client’s point of contact: you gauge how the system is working out in use, spot new needs and translate those back to the development team.

Large retailer: supply-chain web service in Java, continuously in production since 2016

In 2016 Wercstat built a Java web service with complex supply-chain calculations for a large Dutch retailer (4500+ employees, billions in revenue). The service handles millions of requests per hour at 99.9% availability, is closely integrated with the existing ERP backend, and serves internal planning as well as the retailer’s own web shop and large business customers. A companion service dashboard makes the logic behind every calculation visible in detail for customer service.

Specification-driven, not vibe-driven

AI makes software development faster, provided it stands on the right foundation. That is why at Wercstat we don’t start with code, but with specifications. We map your needs in detail and capture them in structured documents: entities, processes, screens, rules and constraints. Only once that foundation is sound do we start building.

This clearly sets our approach apart from vibe coding; improvising with a chat prompt and hoping working software rolls out. For business software, and certainly for ERP, that is not an option. The specification is the source of truth; AI is the tool that helps us turn that truth into working software faster.
